A boundary is not a punishment. It is the frame in which a child can safely try things, and a parent can protect their own energy.
A warm, consistent line often sounds like:
“I understand you want that, and it is not possible now. We can talk about it later.”
Consistency is not rigidity. If the situation changes, the boundary can soften — what matters is clear, respectful communication.
